Former Sheffield United full-back Kieron Freeman has joined Swindon Town a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Freeman has been a free agent since being released by Sheffield United at the end of the last season. The full-back is vastly experienced at League One level.

Full Back Agrees Deal Until End Of Season

Freeman arrives as Swindon’s third signing of this window after Dominic Thompson and Mark Travers joined earlier this week.

Freeman’s arrival continues John Sheridan’s overhaul of a Swindon squad which has struggled so far this season. In Freeman, they have an experienced full-back who has been there and done it.

He was part of the Sheffield United side which secured promotion to both the Championship and the Premier League. Freeman was a key figure for several seasons at Sheffield United making over 100 appearances for the Blades.

Freeman is no stranger to League One. He has been a very consistent full back at this level even making the PFA Team of the Season in 2016/17. To date, he has over 200 player appearances and is ready to help Swindon remain a League One side.

The deal is subject to FA and EFL approval. Should everything be cleared in time, Freeman could make his debut this weekend when Swindon travel to Ipswich Town.

Freeman Excited To Get Going

Speaking to the Swindon website about his move, Freeman said: “I’m buzzing to be here and to get it over the line and I can’t wait to get started.”

“I feel that this is a great opportunity for me, I’ve played here a few times and enjoyed playing here.”

“They [management team] have been brilliant and really welcoming. They’ve told me what they want and what they want to do and I’m really excited.”
