The League One side have confirmed the deal in a statement on their website, with the player now able to get more regular first-team football in the third tier of English football.
Simoes has played 25 times for parent club Barnsley so far and has even bagged three goals along the way. However, he’s started just ten of those games and with game time harder to come by this season (he’s started just four times so far this campaign) he can now play on a more regular basis for Doncaster.
Played for Benfica as Youngster
As a youngster, the Portuguese man played in his native country for Benfica and then made the switch to England to play in non-league. He has steadily made his way up the tiers in England and now finds himself playing regularly in the Football League.
The League One outfit are currently flying high in the league, sitting in fourth place. They are eight points off first-placed Lincoln City but have two games in hand on the club and, if they win them, they’d close the gap to just two points.
Doncaster Will Hope Simoes Can Help With Promotion Bid
Having won four of their last five games and with the side desperate to try and push on and potentially secure promotion to the Championship – a league they haven’t been in since the 2013/14 campaign – Simoes represents a solid piece of business as they aim to do so.
In fact, during that time they even spent a year in League Two, only to gain instant promotion back into the third tier.
Playing in as a winger, Simoes definitely represents another solid option both in terms of goals and assists for the club and the fans will surely be hoping he can help fire them to promotion.
