Morecambe have confirmed that they have signed Brad Lyons on loan from Blackburn Rovers until the end of the season.
Morecambe Sign Brad Lyons on Loan From Blackburn Rovers
First Loan in the EFL
The move to the Globe Arena will begin what is the 23-year-old’s first loan move in the EFL, and his second away from Ewood Park.
Lyons began his career with Northern Irish side Coleraine, making his debut in 2014 aged just 17. After making over 100 appearances for the side, he secured a move to Blackburn in 2018, with the move becoming a permanent one in January 2019.
At the time, the youngster had ambitions of reaching the first-team, but they are yet to come to fruition. He is yet to make his senior debut for Rovers, although he has scored in his last six games for their U23’s.
Lyons has had a previous spell away from Ewood Park on loan with Scottish side St Mirren, featuring in 15 games.
However, this loan move to Morecambe will provide a good test for the 23-year-old. The Shrimps currently sit seventh in League Two after an impressive season under Derek Adams. They are just three points off Forest Green Rovers in third with a game in hand.
What Was Said?
Speaking about his move to the official Morecambe website, Lyons said: “I feel privileged to be here.
“Morecambe’s a good club that’s on the up and fighting for a place in the play-offs at the minute so I can’t wait to get started.
“Hopefully I can do well, help the club and maybe put myself in the spotlight.
“I know League Two is a very competitive league. I’ve watched loads of games at this level and it’s going to be physical. There are a lot of good players within the league so I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
