West Bromwich Albion youngster Owen Windsor has joined Newport County on loan for the rest of the season.

As Windsor arrives, five of Newport’s loanees from the first half of the season have been recalled by their parent clubs.

Windsor Excited to Get Going

The young striker spent the first half of the season at Grimsby Town scoring twice in 13 appearances for the Mariners. He netted just one league goal, which came against Cheltenham Town.

Windsor’s arrival is a boost to Newport County as they look to enhance their promotion bid in League Two. The Exiles sit second in the table, one point behind leaders Carlisle United.

Speaking to the club’s website about his move, Windsor said: “I’m really excited to get going. It was a good first half of the season for me when I was on loan at Grimsby, but I’m ready for a new challenge and want to help the club achieve what they want to this season.

“I played against the club when I was at Grimsby and I know a few of the players who have also been at the club. They have done well here, so I know it’s a club that can help young players develop.

“I like the style that they play and I think that it will get the best out of me. I’ve been aware of the interest for a few weeks since I came back from Grimsby, so I’m ready to get going now.

“It’s a big thing for me that the club are doing well in the league because it shows that what they are doing is working.”

Windsor could make his debut in the FA Cup against Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion if eligible to play. His league debut could come against Salford City in eleven days time.

As Windsor Arrives, Five of Newport’s Loanees Depart

As Newport confirmed the signing of Owen Windsor, the club have also announced the departure of five loanees. All of whom have been recalled by their parent clubs.

Saikou Janneh and Bradley Webb will return to Bristol City. Defender Brandon Cooper is returning to Swansea City while Aaron Lewis is returning to Lincoln City. Perhaps the biggest loss is attacker Scott Twine who returns to Swindon Town after scoring seven goals for the Exiles.
