League One promotion chasers Charlton Athletic have made FC Midtjylland striker Ronnie Schwartz their first January signing.
The striker arrives for an undisclosed fee signing a two-and-a-half-year deal at the Valley. Charlton have been short on goals in the forward areas and they will be hoping Schwartz is the main to change that.

Schwartz Happy to Join the Addicks
Schwartz has been a proven goal scorer wherever he has played. He has 119 goals in 287 career appearances to date. He has finished top scorer of a league in his last two seasons. He helped Silkeborg secure promotion to the Danish Superliga before moving to FC Midtjylland and helping them secure the Superliga title.
He has plenty of pedigree but joins a Charlton side battling for promotion in League One. The Addicks sit seventh, outside the play-off places on goal difference. They are five points off the automatic promotion places.
Schwartz needs Home Office approval under the EU Settlement Scheme. Charlton are confident he will receive that in time to face Accrington Stanley on Friday.
Speaking to the club’s website about his move, Schwartz said: “It is a really good feeling to be here, to be a part of this massive club with a huge history.
“I can’t wait to play my first game at The Valley, unfortunately, it will be without fans, but it is a beautiful stadium and I am happy to be here.”
Lee Bowyer Pleased With New Addition
Manager Lee Bowyer added: “His finishing is very good, I witnessed it first hand in training today. To see him finishing the way he does and know that he is going to improve is a big plus.
“Strikers tend to win you games, once we create chances he is a fox in the box. His work rate is good, his movement is good and he’s very clever. He’s got all the experience, so it’s a great signing.”
Owner Thomas Sandgaard Delighted to Bring in Danish Compatriot Ronnie Schwartz
Charlton’s new owner has always made his views clear and is determined to back Lee Bowyer to get Charlton back to the Championship.
Speaking about the club’s new signing, Sandgaard said: “I am very happy to get the signing of Ronnie completed.
“We were looking to bring in a striker that fitted in with our planning and we’re pleased we have been able to do that. Ronnie is a proven goalscorer, with a great goalscoring record. I am excited to see him pull on a Charlton shirt at The Valley.”
