Leverkusen have benefitted from signing Diaby during the 2019 summer transfer window from Paris Saint-Germain. The talented 21-year-old winger registered eight goals and eight assists in 39 appearances in all competitions last season. So far in the current campaign, Diaby has been performing very well as Leverkusen navigate playing in both the Bundesliga and Europa League. In the league, the French winger has scored two goals and recorded three assists in 12 appearances. His record in the Europa Leauge is currently three goals and three assists from six appearances.
Tapsoba Getting the Job Done Defensively
Much like Diaby, Leverkusen’s acquisition of Tapsoba has proven to be a very good decision for the future of the club. The centre-back joined the Bundesliga side in the 2020 January transfer window and has gone on to make regular appearances in the backline. According to Football Reference, Tapsoba finished ranked fifth in the Bundesliga in percentage of dribblers tackled in the 2019/20 season. He’s rarely wasteful in possession as well as he finished third in the league in pass completion percentage last season and currently ranks seventh this season in that same statistical category.
The Future is Bright for Bayer Leverkusen
Even after the departure of Kai Havertz, Leverkusen’s future is looking bright. Diaby and Tapsoba, along with 17-yead-old Florian Wirtz, represent the exciting talent the club currently possesses. Having yet to lose a match in the German top flight, Leverkusen currently sit at the top of the Bundesliga table entering matchday 13. Leverkusen have been performing very well and their young talents have been key contributors to their success so far this season. Diaby and Tapsoba will certainly be names to watch as their careers at Leverkusen continue.
