Valencia’s up and coming midfielder Yunus Musah has signed a contract extension until 2026. The 18-year-old has already made 10 appearances for the senior team in La Liga this season and has impressed thus far in his first campaign in the Spanish top flight. Musah’s already registered his first goal for Valencia and it appears his strong start to the 2020/21 season has confirmed the club’s belief he can be a long-term player for them.

An Instant Impact
Since joining Valencia’s first team on a regular basis this season, Musah has been performing very well for the Spanish club. Against Getafe, he registered his first La Liga goal and against Real Madrid, he drew a penalty kick in the shocking 4-1 victory. Thus far during the 2020/21 campaign, Musah has completed 76% of his passes and ranks fifth on the team in tackles.
Musah spent the 2019/20 season with Valencia’s second team but was introduced into the first team right from the start of the current campaign. Before his time with Valencia, Musah spent time with Arsenal’s U18 team and made 15 appearances in the 2018/19 U18 Premier League season. He scored four goals and registered three assists during that season with Arsenal’s U18 team. However, that would be his final season with the Premier League club as he joined Valencia during the 2019 summer transfer window.
Another Rising American Talent
During the November international break, Musah played his first matches with the United States Men’s National Team. USMNT manager Gregg Berhalter was able to successfully recruit Musah to join the team for fixtures against Wales and Panama. Previously, Musah had made appearances for England’s youth teams. But it now appears Musah has become the latest dual-national player to opt for the USMNT. Musah was born in New York and he is certainly joining a growing number of young American talents in European football.
