Manchester City are in “advanced negotiations” to sign 17-year-old Dario Ariel Sarmiento from Argentine Primera Division side Estudiantes, according to reports.
Manchester City Opening Offer For Sarmiento ‘Around €19 million’
Young Winger Has Already Grabbed Attentions of Club Legend
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that City’s opening offer for the winger is around the €19 million mark.
Romano goes on to state that should the deal go ahead, Sarmiento would arrive at the Etihad Stadium in June 2021.
It is likely he would go out on loan to one of the ‘City Group’ clubs. New York City in the MLS or Melbourne City in Australia’s A-League would be the potential destinations before Sarmiento is ready to cut his teeth in the Premier League.

Sarmiento has already been making waves in the Argentine Primera Division.
Indeed, club legend Alejandro Sabella – who won two championships with Estudiantes in the 1980s – apparently ‘knelt down’ in front of Sarmiento, according to the young winger himself.
Speaking to ESPN, Sarmiento recalled: “He came and asked me if I was Sarmiento, I said yes and he knelt down.
“He said I was going to be a star, but I need to be calm and live in the present.
“I was nervous, I couldn’t believe it. I swear my legs were shaking, I didn’t know what to say – I still get nervous when I tell the story and imagine that moment.”
Sarmiento’s signing would represent the beginning of a long-term overhaul at Manchester City, with some of the club’s stars such as fellow Argentine Sergio Aguero edging towards the end of their careers.
