West Bromwich Albion have held talks with an American consortium over a potential takeover, according to The Telegraph.

Takeover Price Dependent on West Bromwich Albion Staying in Premier League

Talks Also Include 15 Per Cent Minority Share Option

John Percy of The Telegraph says the current asking price of £150 million is an issue for the party, as West Brom’s status as a Premier League club is uncertain.

Slaven Bilic’s side have yet to win on their return to the top flight.

It is understood the consortium could return with an offer once the club’s future is clearer.

Percy also reports that Albion’s controlling shareholder, Guochuan Lai, turned down an offer earlier this year.

Negotiations remain open with the party over a full takeover or a minority stake of up to 15 per cent.

Lai’s demands for £150 million allegedly comes from the fact he paid around £200 million to buy the club from former chairman Jeremy Peace in September 2016.

Albion have yet to comment.

Albion Write to FA Over Refereeing Decisions During 1-0 Loss to Manchester United

Meanwhile, the club have written to the Football Association regarding what they feel were controversial refereeing decisions during the 1-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday.

Referee David Coote overturned his initial decision to award Albion a penalty after Bruno Fernandes caused Conor Gallagher to go down inside the penalty area.

Albion also claim that Gallagher was fouled in the build-up to United being awarded a penalty of their own.

That penalty was also surrounded by controversy. Fernandes missed his initial effort but was allowed to retake it after Albion keeper Sam Johnstone was ruled to have moved off his line before the kick had been taken.
