Leeds United striker Rodrigo has confirmed that he has tested positive for COVID-19. The Spaniard contracted the virus after coming into contact with a family member who he was unaware had been infected. Rodrigo will now self-isolate and miss the Whites’ match against Crystal Palace.
Rodrigo Tests Positive for COVID-19
Confirmation
In a post on Instagram, Moreno confirmed the news of his positive test and that he would be following all of the required protocols.
He said: “Unfortunately I have tested positive for COVID-19 after being in contact with a family member that had been infected without us knowing.
“As per the protocol, I will be self-isolating and will miss the game with Crystal Palace.
“Both my family and I feel great, we are lucky enough to feel healthy and we are keeping a positive attitude.
“From home I will support Leeds and the Spanish National Team as a supporter and I will be back on the pitch soon.”
A Slow Start to Leeds Career for Rodrigo
This is certainly a set-back that Rodrigo did not need. Since his move from Valencia in the summer, he has battled to get up to fitness. Currently, though, he is yet to displace Patrick Bamford from the starting line-up. Given that the Englishman has started the season on fire, this is probably in Leeds’ best interest at the moment. But Rodrigo will want to start playing more and start to repay some of the hefty fee that Leeds forked out for him.
In four Premier League appearances so far, Rodrigo has found the net once – reducing a point in a 1-1 draw against Manchester City.
