Sheffield Wednesday have announced the signing of Derby County striker Jack Marriott.
Marriott joins the Owls on loan for the rest of the season. Garry Monk has been desperate to add more firepower to his attack and it appears he finally has his man.
Marriott arrives as Sheffield Wednesday’s seventh signing in this transfer window. He is expected to play an important role for the Owls as they continue to chip away at their 12-point deduction.

Marriott Joins on Loan for the Rest of the Season
It’s been a busy transfer window at Hillsborough, with Garry Monk building a team from scratch. Fourteen players have left the Championship club, including all of their senior strikers. Signing attacking options has been Monk’s priority for much of this transfer window.
Marriott is a proven goalscorer at this level but has struggled to impress Philipp Cocu at Derby. His time at with the Rams has been inconsistent but ten goals in 32 starts isn’t a bad record. He will add another option for Monk, who has shored up Wednesday defensively, but goals are eluding his team.
Marriott will compete with Jordan Rhodes, Elias Kachunga and Callum Paterson for a starting berth up front. All four players have proven they can score at this level but Monk must now get the best out of them if Wednesday are to beat relegation.
The Owls have notched five points from their first four games but Monk knows wins are imperative for his team. The pressure is on to beat the drop and the boss will be confident Marriott is the man to fire them towards safety.
Marriott is available to make his debut in tomorrow’s game against Birmingham City. He will also wear the number nine shirt for Wednesday this season. As well as allowing Marriott to depart on loan, Derby have also confirmed they have extended Marriott’s contract until 2022.
