Important Move for the Youngster

After breaking into the Liverpool first-team at the age of 17, Woodburn is yet to live up to expectations that he was expected to fulfil.

The Welshman made nine appearances under Jurgen Klopp during his first full season in charge at Anfield. However, after an unsuccessful season – he made just two appearances – in the following campaign, he spent the 2018/19 on loan with Sheffield United.

However, he was a victim of the Blades’ success. Woodburn made just 11 appearances during his time at Bramall Lane, as he failed to register a single goal.

The 21-year-old then tried to find form again last season on loan with Oxford United. Once more though, he was a victim of unfortunate circumstances, as injuries kept him out of the starting line-up.

What Was Said?

Speaking about his move to Bloomfield Road, the 21-year-old expressed his desire to get back to playing regular football again.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to being here and playing football again.

“Neil Critchley was a big factor in me playing for Liverpool and I feel as though he knows me as a player and I know him as a coach. Hopefully we can have a good connection and be successful on the pitch again.”

Seasiders boss Neil Critchley added: “Ben is a young player with lots of ability and can play in a number of different attacking positions.

“In coming through the Academy at Liverpool, he has gone on to play for the first team and gained full international caps for Wales.

“I know the quality he can bring to the team, having worked with him previously. I am delighted to welcome him to Blackpool and to be working with him once again.”
