Quick Progression has Lead to Second Premier League Chance
At 23-years-old, Karlan Grant has already experienced the four professional divisions in England. His turn of pace combined with his ability to find the back of the net has proven to trouble even the best of defences, whilst ensuring a rapid progression through the leagues.
As recent as 2018, Grant was scoring goals for fun for Crawley Town in League Two. nine goals in 15 appearances for the club demonstrated the natural talent Grant possessed, and earned him more of a chance at parent club Charlton Athletic, ahead of the 2018/19 season.
An equally prolific start to the campaign saw Grant become a wanted figure in the higher divisions. 14 goals in 28 games for the Addicks, was enough to secure a move to then Premier League side, Huddersfield. Grant swiftly emerged as a shining light in a dark period for the Yorkshire-based club, who were relegated with 16 points.
However, Huddersfield’s relegation to the Championship gave Grant the chance to impress in the only league he had not come across yet. The 23-year-old’s continued his excellent goal scoring figures in the 2019/20 season. Subsequently, he was a wanted man, with the Premier League clubs showing an interest.
Another Big Blow for Huddersfield
Following the club’s relegation to England’s second tier in 2019, Huddersfield have faced their fair share of blows. The Terriers are on to their third manager in little over a year, and now Grant’s departure has left the club rather deflated.
Four points from the opening four games, has not provided fans with much confidence. However, it is a season for finding stability for the Terriers under new manager Carlos Corberan. The primary focus of the club will be laying down the foundations to build upon next season.
