Manchester United have agreed to sign Atalanta‘s 18-year-old winger Amad Traore in January, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Traore had been set to join Parma before the transfer collapsed. Manchester United have sought to take advantage of the situation and found an agreement to sign the Ivory Coast-born talent for €30 million-plus add ons in January.
Amad Traore to Join Manchester United in January
24 Minutes, One Goal
At his young age, Traore has made just three senior appearances for Atalanta. He scored just six minutes into his Serie A debut against Udinese in October 2019. His three appearances have only amounted to little over 24 minutes of action but he has done enough to impress those at Old Trafford.
He has not seen a minute of football this campaign, but that is understandable, with speculation about his future and the lack of first-team minutes last season anyway. Traore hasn’t necessarily broken through as a senior outlet for the club yet.
Parma Deal Collapsed
It is said that Traore will join Manchester United in January due to complications that would seemingly prevent a deal happening today – transfer deadline day. The wait for a work permit and passport would hold up any transfer in the short-term. These matters will be resolved in the comings months ahead of his arrival in Manchester.
Spectacularly Traore’s agreement to join Parma had been announced, but it was said by Fabrizio Romano that Atalanta had elected to keep the player until January. It has now transpired that, yes, they will keep him until January, but his destination has changed to the theatre of dreams.
Praise From Papu Gomez
Traore is seen as one of the most promising young talents in Italy. Teammate Papu Gomez has previously spoken very highly of Traore.
“He’s a future star, trust me. During our training, he seems like (Lionel) Messi! You can’t stop him.”
Traore Can Determine if He Begins Life at United in First Team
It’s not clear if Traore will immediately join United’s first-team or be bedded in through the academy initially. Only time will tell that, and whatever he is able to do over the coming months, may well determine where he begins life at United.
