Maddison ‘Delighted’ With Charlton Move
Speaking to the club website, Maddison said: “I’m delighted, this has been going on for quite a while. There was interest in January, so I’m pleased it’s been done.
“To have consistent admiration from the manager and for him to pursue me all these months down the line shows that he believes in me as a player and that’s a massive deal for me.
“It’s a fresh start. The amount of time I’ve had out makes you remember why you started playing football in the first place, so I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Meanwhile, manager Lee Bowyer was thrilled to secure the attacker’s services.
He said: “Marcus is someone we tried to bring here in January, but obviously the embargo was in place. We’ve finally got our man.
“He brings goals. His stats over the last few years are excellent, he regularly gets to double figures in goals and gets a lot of assists, so he brings about 25 goals to a team in a season.
League One Legend
After starting his career with non-league Gateshead, Maddison signed for Peterborough in 2014 and spent six seasons with the League One side.
The versatile midfielder made 249 appearances for the Posh, scoring 62 goals and providing 92 assists, before spending the end of last season on loan at Hull City.
Maddison, a former England C international, is the Addicks’ fourth signing of the summer as the club try to bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt.
Lee Bowyer’s side currently sit 18th in League One, having won just one of their opening three matches.
