Jordan Henderson to Miss Arsenal Cup Clash
Injuries to Jordan Henderson, Joel Matip and Kostas Tsimikas
Henderson has missed Liverpool’s last two games after being withdrawn at half time with a thigh injury in their win against Chelsea.
This injury adds to a number of injuries the Englishman has had recently, with a knee injury suffered against Brighton & Hove Albion in July seeing him miss England duty at the beginning of September.
Matip continues to be sidelined with a muscle injury. Like Henderson, Matip’s injuries have built up which has meant he’s only featured for just 75 minutes in the Premier League in the last 11 months.
Tsimikas played against Lincoln City in the last round, however, in that game he picked up a thigh injury and he has not played since. He will also miss Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa.
Update on Oxlade-Chamberlain
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains out as he continues to recover from a knee injury suffered during pre-season. He is said to be progressing well, with a return date yet to be announced.
Comments from Lijnders
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Lijnders said: “Jordan, we will re-evaluate on Friday after this game to see if he can be ready for Aston Villa.
“Joel is the same as what I said last week, he will be ready [after] the international break and use the time to prepare for the Everton game.
“Ox is progressing well. He’s in a good way and it’s really important for him that this first phase goes smooth. But, of course, that takes a much longer time.
“We have Kostas, who after the Lincoln game had a thigh problem. We thought it would settle, it didn’t, so he will need more time. He will not be involved on Thursday and also not on Sunday.”
