Hull City have confirmed that they have signed winger Hakeeb Adelakun on loan from Bristol City.

He is ninth player to join the Tigers this summer, as they look to make a swift return to the Championship.

Success at League One Level

Despite failing to make an impact at Championship level with the Robins, the 24-year-old has enjoyed success at League One level.

Last season saw him win promotion while on loan with Rotherham United, who earned automatic promotion via points-per-game. Adelakun made nine appearances for the Millers, but failed to score during his time with the club.

He joined Bristol City after a successful season in League One with previous club Scunthorpe United. His five goals and 12 assists helped the Iron to a fifth-placed finish.

However, the 24-year-old has failed to make much of an impact since making the move to Ashton Gate; he has just five appearances to his name after joining in 2018.

What Was Said?

Speaking about his new signing to the official Hull City website, manager Grant McCann said: “Hakeeb is a player I’ve admired for a few years now.

“Seeing him at Scunthorpe, and managing against him, he was always a threat for them. He had a tremendous time there, in terms of goals and assists.

“He’s coming here on the back of knowing what it’s like to get promoted, and what it’s like to challenge. He was in a successful Scunthorpe team that twice just missed out on promotion. He went to Rotherham last season and they got promoted. He knows what it takes.

“He’s a really, really good signing. What I like about him as well is he’s flexible. He can play across the front three, as a number 10, and he brings us pace and power, which I feel can be a big factor for us this season.”

The Tigers are currently third in League One after winning their opening two league games.
