Patrice Evra has spoken on Instagram, criticising the off the field antics at his former club, Manchester United.
Evra has particularly criticised chief transfer negotiator Matt Judge, revealing he has been uncontactable on occasion.
He has also labelled the club ‘arrogant’ and claimed some of those working at United are ‘damaging’ the football club.
Patrice Evra Frustrated With Manchester United ‘Arrogance’
Evra Calls Out Manchester United ‘Business’
Patrice Evra is quite popular on Instagram and often uploads positive posts, but not today. Today he explained that he was ‘sad, tired and hurt’ in quotes cited by the Daily Mail from Evra’s Instagram page.
The former United left-back is not afraid to speak his mind and perhaps unfortunately for those at United, that’s exactly what he did.
“If I have a problem with Ed Woodward (executive vice-chairman of Manchester United), I won’t talk on social media. I will just call him or meet him face-to-face about what I think about something,” Evra stated.
“The only problem I would say to Ed is trusting people he should never trust. He even trusts people outside the club that he shouldn’t. That’s what I can say about Ed.
“Before us, Bobby Charlton, George Best, they make the history of the club. All those people, they make the history of the club and we try to respect it.
“Some people, they want to blow all this legacy away. For what? Business?,” Evra added, having mentioned the 1999 and 2008 European triumphs.
The Arrogance of Manchester United
Evra then particularly aims his disappointment at transfer chief Matt Judge.
“When we want a player and they cost say £20 million, we end up trying to buy him for £100 million. Now those players don’t even want our money anymore.
Patrice appears to question the competence of Judge, stating that he has previously been uncontactable for other clubs.
“A sporting director from a top football club called me and asked me to tell Matthew Judge to answer his phone.
“The club needs to stop being so arrogant. There are certain people at the club right now that don’t even respect Sir Alex Ferguson.”
Manchester United fans have long been frustrated, especially on social media, and will be glad to see a player with the star power that Patrice Evra carries calling out those in charge.
It Used to Tick Like Clockwork
Evra then goes on to take a shot at the way transfers are negotiated at Old Trafford, comparing it to when he was at the club under Sir Alex Ferguson, where things ticked like clockwork.
“People need to understand we (Manchester United) send lawyers to talk to players. So when we send lawyers they talk about numbers, they are not people from the football world.
“At the time, Fergie, David Gill time, we didn’t hear anything in the player, but Van Persie, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, everything was fast. When Manchester United need a player they go and they talk to them face-to-face.”
Telling Fans the Truth
“I love this club and maybe one day I will work for this club again but I will work with my loyalty and I will never lie to any person who loves this club.
“I think some people who work for this club are damaging this club. That’s why we have to tell the truth to the fans.
“I know some people are scared to speak up about because they may not get a job in the future. I don’t care, I don’t need Manchester United. I love Manchester United.”
Evra has always spoken passionately about Manchester United and does have a relationship with the likes of Ed Woodward, but hasn’t allowed that to get in the way of his opinion here.
Manchester United started the season with a devastating 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace, having been hopeful of a positive campaign. Donny van de Beek did score a debut goal but remains the club’s only signing of the summer transfer window. Frustration is growing ever stronger.
