Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that negotiations have taken place with Roma over the transfer of Cengiz Ünder.
With rumours circulating that Carlo Ancelotti’s side Everton were attempting to hijack the deal, the Foxes boss confirmed the interest was there from his side.

‘There Have Been Negotiations With the Club’
The deal would see the 23-year old join on an initial loan with an obligation to buy for £25 million at the end of the season.
While reluctant to speak directly about the Turkey international, he told reporters: “He’s a very, very good player. There have been negotiations with the club and we’re hopeful from there.
“I just said at the end of last season, we needed a different type of attacking player, or players, to come in and support at the top end of the field. Having watched him play over the last number of years for Roma and for Turkey, he’s clearly a talented player.
“I’ll speak more about the individual if we complete a deal, but it’s clear that at the top end of the field, we have pace and power, but I felt we also need a bit more football in there as well.”
Despite narrowly missing out on Champions League football, Rodgers will be hoping he can replace the hole left by Riyad Mahrez a number of years ago when he left for Manchester City.
In an injury-hit season, the Turkish winger scored three goals but provided 14 goals and 12 assists in his first two seasons in Rome.
A forlorn figure at the King Power Stadium is winger Demarai Gray, who has 12 months to run on his current contract and is yet to sign a new contract; the arrival of Ünder could spell the end for the 24-year old.
Leicester kicked off their new campaign with a convincing 3-0 win at West Bromwich Albion.
