Manchester United midfielder Dylan Levitt will spend the season on loan at Charlton Athletic in League One.
Levitt made his international debut for Wales last week and needs to be playing regularly within a first-team somewhere.
He will hope this move to Charlton provides him with that opportunity.

Needs to Take Advantage of Access to First-Team Football
Levitt is one of the most promising midfielders in Manchester United’s academy, though, like many others, he is in need of a loan and has finally secured one ahead of the new season.
The Welshman has the opportunity to announce himself as a genuine prospect for United’s first-team. Some might have preferred to see him making a move to a Championship club, however, there is no reason why he cannot do enough at Charlton to push on further.
Of most importance to Levitt is to have the platform to play week-in-week-out and showcase what he can offer.
At Charlton Athletic, he is likely to be afforded that opportunity.
Wales manager Ryan Giggs, a Manchester United legend, of course, has been keen to push Levitt into his youthful international setup, despite the 19-year-old midfielder having made just one senior appearance for the Red Devils.
Levitt’s sole appearance came in the 2-1 loss to Astana in last season’s Europa League campaign. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer went with a much-changed youthful United side that day. Levitt hasn’t been given a look-in since.
It’s been difficult for Solskjaer to implement the younger players, though he is keen to do so. With almost every game must-win in the last campaign, there wasn’t even much of an opportunity to do so from the bench.
Bowyer Claims Nicky Butt Told Him Levitt Is ‘the Best Passer’ at United
“His passing, he doesn’t give the ball away, as a midfielder that is important,” Charlton boss Lee Bowyer said.
“He keeps the ball at the right times and he has the vision to open up any defence. I spoke to Nicky Butt at Manchester United, he said ‘he’s the best passer we have at the club’. If Nicky tells me that he can pass then I take his word for it.
“He’s another good addition to the squad, he’s a very good player. He’s got talent and he’s a Wales international. It just makes it more competitive for the players if you’re bringing in international players.”
Charlton were relegated from the Championship in 2019/20 and will look to gain promotion from League One in the forthcoming campaign.
Charlton a Good Place to Send Young Players
“Looking at it from the outside, it must be a good attraction to send their players here. Krystian (Bielik), Conor (Gallagher), Josh Cullen, then you’ve got players who have come through our academy that we’ve pushed on – Karlan (Grant), Joe Aribo, we’ve done really well with young players,” Bowyer added.
“They all improve and go back better – Manchester United will be no different to any other club, that’s what they want from us. The most important thing is we get him out on the training pitch and get him used to the players.”
Levitt Happy to Be Joining ‘Massive Club’
“It feels amazing obviously,” Dylan Levitt said of joining Charlton Athletic. “It’s a big club, even though we are in League One, it’s still a massive club, so it’s a pleasure to be here.
“I’ve spoken to Lee (Bowyer) a few times now, he’s looking to be the best this season and get back into the Championship where Charlton belong.”
Operating Under Restrictions
Charlton are acting under an EFL embargo, forcing them to act on a one-out, one-in basis.
“We’re pleased to bring him in,” director of football Steve Gallen added. “Obviously there has been a bit of a gap since the last two signings – Conor (Washington) and Alex (Gilbey). We’d have liked to have brought someone in sooner but we’ve had some restrictions. We were hoping to do this a few weeks ago but because of the restrictions we had to wait for one to leave but we’re pleased to get Dylan in.
“He’s very well respected at Manchester United and well respected by the Welsh squad.”
Levitt will wear the number 23 shirt at Charlton.
