Kachunga is the Owls’ fourth signing of the transfer window, following the additions of Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Chey Dunkley, and Izzy Brown.
Kachunga Signs for the Owls
Success at Huddersfield
Kachunga was a pivotal player in his debut season at Huddersfield. Kachunga scored 12 and assisted four in 42 games during the 2016/17 season when Town successfully secured promotion to the Premier League. The striker went on to earn a permanent deal at the Terriers for their top-flight campaign. Kachunga also played in the same Huddersfield team as Izzy Brown who also joined the Owls earlier this summer and both players had a strong connection in the promotion gaining season.
Straight Into the Action
The DR Congo international is available for selection for Saturday’s trip to Walsall
in the Carabao Cup. Kachunga is likely to feature in the matchday squad due to Wednesday’s lack of options in attack.
Recent Form Has Let Him Down
In the 2019/20 season, the striker only scored three goals in what was a poor campaign for Huddersfield. If the 28-year-old can somehow recreate his form of old, he could be a real coup for Wednesday on a free transfer. Garry Monk will hope the pacey forward will add goals to a sparse Wednesday attack in what is a crucial season for them.
More to Come
According to Sheffield Star’s Alex Miller, a deal is close for Josh Windass, who was on loan at Sheffield Wednesday last season and could be completed shortly, which would mean he would also be available for selection on Saturday. With Kachunga’s signing completed, Windass would become Wednesday’s fifth signing of the summer.
