An Attack-Minded Defender

Dion Sanderson held Cardiff’s right-back spot last season during his loan spell from Wolverhampton Wanderers. This season, though, Bluebirds boss Neil Harris is looking for someone capable of advancing further up the pitch.

Osei-Tutu will likely be tasked with bombing forward and delivering crosses towards new 6’5″ forward Kieffer Moore, who arrived on a permanent deal from Wigan Athletic earlier in the window.

The 21-year-old also has the ability to chip in with goals every now and then having scored five in the Bundesliga 2 last season for Bochum.

Career So Far

Last season’s spell in Germany was Osei-Tutu’s first loan move away from Arsenal. It proved to be a successful stint as he scored five times in 21 appearances, a tidy return for a defender, which helped Bochum to finish eighth in the table.

Before joining Arsenal’s academy set-up in 2015, Slough-born Osei-Tutu was in the academy at Championship side Reading.

The youngster is yet to make his senior debut for the Gunners, so Cardiff must have been impressed by his performances in Germany.

Could Sanderson Still Return?

Despite the signing of Osei-Tutu, Joe Edwards of the Express & Star reports that Cardiff are one of many teams chasing their former loanee Sanderson.

According to the report, Rotherham United, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town are also keen on brining the Wolves defender in.

Having both Osei-Tutu and Sanderson would give Neil Harris different options in defence depending on their opposition. Another loan deal would make sense for both parties, too, with Wolves already possessing Matt Doherty and Adama Traore to play in their right wing-back position.
