REPORT: Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira is Wanted in Europe

Manchester United’s Andreas Pereira is likely to leave this summer with a whole host of European clubs interested, according to Paul Hirst of The Sunday Times.

The 24-year-old is out of favour at Old Trafford and has dropped down the pecking order since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes. Pereira has made 75 appearances since arriving from PSV Eindhoven in 2011, but it looks like his departure is fast-approaching.

Struggle to Regain First Team Football

Before lockdown, Pereira played an important part in Manchester United’s campaign. The Brazilian made 23 appearances before COVID-19 halted the Premier League campaign. Though, the signing and resulted form of Bruno Fernandes damaged Andreas Pereira’s chances of returning to first-team action.

It is believed that Pereira was part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans for next season. However, the Brazilian wants regular first-team football, which is something the United manager could not promise.

After United’s inspiring post-lockdown performances, Andreas Pereira is one of five players that could be sold this Summer. The Red Devils are also listening to offers for Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling.

Where Next for Andreas Pereira?

Kia Joorabchian, Pereira’s agent, has spoken with a number of Spanish and German clubs regarding the Brazilian’s future. Valencia have emerged as one of the clubs that are trying to secure his signature. After a successful loan spell in the 2017/18 season, Valencia are keen in bringing Pereira back to the Mestalla Stadium.

Benfica have also expressed their desire to sign Pereira, but will face serious competition from the rest of Europe. The Lisbon based club can entice Pereira with Champions League football, as the club looks to strengthen for next year.

Manchester United will be listening to offers for the Brazilian, whose contract does not run out until 2023.
