Napoli have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Real Madrid full-back Sergio Reguilón, according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio.
Serie A side Napoli want the 23-year-old, who appears to be surplus to requirements at Madrid.
Real Madrid Full-Back Sergio Reguilón Attracting Interest From Chelsea
Chelsea and Napoli Eager for Reguilón
Reguilón impressed during his loan spell at La Liga side Sevilla last season. The left-back made 31 league appearances, scored three goals and provided four assists.
Reguilón’s impressive form has drawn interest from Chelsea recently. The Blues were reportedly in advanced talks to sign the 23-year-old recently.
Frank Lampard reportedly wants the 23-year-old as a replacement for current left-back options Marcos Alonso and Emerson.
Despite being linked with Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell, Reguilón presents a cheaper option for the Blues. The Spain Under-21 international is reportedly available for around £18 million.
However, Napoli is the latest club to be linked with Reguilón. The Serie A side scouted the full-back at Sevilla before the season finished and look set to move for the 23-year-old.
Not Needed at Madrid
Despite an impressive season on loan at Sevilla, Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane wants to sell Reguilón.
The Madrid boss wants to receive further transfer funds to invest in his squad for next season.
Reguilón will struggle to break into the first team at Madrid with Marcelo and Ferland Mendy the preferred options at left-back.
The 23-year-old joined Madrid at eight years old and rose through the youth ranks at the Bernabeu. Reguilón made his debut for Los Blancos in October 2018 against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.
The talented full-back has only made 22 senior appearances for his parent club to date. Despite an excellent and consistent 2019/20 season for Sevilla, it appears that the Spaniard will need to depart the Bernabeu in search of first-team football.
