Warne Has Kept His Eye on Sadlier

Sadlier, 25, rejected a contract offer to stay at Doncaster Rovers earlier this summer. He has had a fine season for Rovers, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists in his 40 appearances across all competitions.

Rotherham boss Paul Warne has admitted to having seen a lot of Sadlier & Doncaster last season.

“I watched Doncaster live more than any other club last year, it helps that I live five minutes from the ground but I did watch him no end,” Warne told the club website.

“He can play with both feet, as a 10 and on either wing. He’s at a good age and a good kid. He had to go through our interviewing process which is something like ‘SAS, Who Dares Wins’ and he got through that okay.”

Warne Delighted to Add Another Winger

“I think he was one of the outstanding players in the league. Wingers are a dying breed with the way we want to play so he’s always been on my radar,” Warne added.

“Everything worked out perfectly, this time last year we had no wingers, this time we have three excellent wingers.”

Sadlier Excited to Play in the Championship

“I’m really excited, this is something I’ve worked really hard to do – coming up from Ireland to Doncaster to League One and now I’m in the Championship,” Sadlier told the club website.

“I’m very proud of that but the hard work doesn’t stop, I want to go all the way and make a real impact in the Championship with Rotherham United.”

Sadlier admits he had interest from elsewhere.

“There was interest,” he admitted. “I just feel like when I spoke to Warney and the staff they made me feel really welcome and they wanted me.

“I’m a very forward-thinking player, I like to get shots off and I’m not scared to take a chance. I like to get in the box and score goals, I’d say I’m a goal-scoring winger who loves getting goals and assisting, that’s something I really want to do here.”
