Luton Town have confirmed that winger Kazenga LuaLua has signed a new contract with the club.
Kazenga LuaLua Signs New Deal With Luton Town
Luton Agree on New Deal for LuaLua
The 29-year-old has signed a new deal with the Hatters after his previous contract expired in June. The Championship side did not disclose the length of the contract that the ex-Brighton & Hove Albion player signed.
Luton beat the drop by just three points last season and have moved to bolster their squad for next season.
LuaLua is the fifth first-team regular to secure a new deal at Kenilworth Road this summer.
He joins Luke Berry, Danny Hylton, Elliot Lee and Glen Rea in signing a new deal with the Bedfordshire side.
Luton Was the Obvious Choice for LuaLua
LuaLua, who began his career with Newcastle United, featured 29 times in the Championship last season, scoring three goals.
“There was never any question I wasn’t going to re-sign. I love it at Luton and I couldn’t leave it as late as last year! I was so happy with the way last season finished.
“Scoring the winning goal at Hull was massive but it wasn’t about me personally, it was about the whole squad, staff and club coming together to pull off the Great Escape,” he told the club’s website.
The Congolese-born midfielder also mentioned his joy at escaping relegation, adding: “Those pictures afterwards summed up the spirit of this great club and the wonderful times we’ve experienced here.”
LuaLua has notched up over 50 appearances with the Hatters over the last two seasons since joining from Sunderland – earning a League One title in the process.
Luton Town Boss Happy to Tie Down LuaLua and Other Key Men
Nathan Jones was very pleased to tie down some of last season’s key players ahead of another Championship campaign.
“We are delighted that they’ve signed and now it’s time to try and kick on with the nucleus of the players, with some additions to improve the quality of the squad.”
