Barcelona Goalkeeper Marce-Andre Ter Stegen Agrees Contract Extension
Three-Year Extension
The German’s current contract expired in the summer of 2022.
However, according to the Barcelona president, he is now set to remain with the club until 2025.
Ter Stegen has been attracting interest from several clubs, including Juventus and Chelsea. The Blues are looking to sign a new goalkeeper following their loss in confidence in Kepa Arrizabalaga.
According to Mundo Deportivo, it is just personal terms that need to be agreed between the 28-year-old and Barcelona.
Close to Ten Years With the Catalan Giants
The German will have spent over ten years with the Catalan giants, should he remain until 2025.
Ter Stegen joined Barcelona from Borussia Mochengladbach in 2014. He was initially second-choice due to age, and predominantly played in the European and domestic cup competitions.
However, he was gradually embedded into starting 11, although it did take him more than two years to become a regular in La Liga.
The 2016/17 season saw him come on leaps and bounds. Following the departure of Claudio Bravo, he became the undisputed first-choice in the league and cup.
Since then, he has not let go of his spot in the first-team. He has made 187 appearances in the last four seasons for the Catalan giants, winning a countless number of trophies.
Leicester City Still Pursuing Francisco Trincao
Fabrizio Romano is also reporting that Leicester City are still pursuing a deal for Francisco Trincao.
The Portuguese striker is yet to play a game for Barcelona, despite having signed in January this year. His contract only begun at the start of last month, meaning he remained with former club Braga until the end of the 2019/20 season.
The Foxes are considered a loan deal with the option to buy the 20-year-old.
