Returning to the Club
The 28-year-old is returning to Boundary Park after enjoying a six-month loan earlier this year.
Piergianni made 11 appearances for the Latics during the 2019/20 season before it was halted due to COVID-19 in March.
Oldham conceded just 16 goals in his 11 appearances. His leadership at the heart of defence helped shore up the Latics defence; they conceded 41 goals before Piergianni joined.
As a result, he decided to return to the club permanently, signing a two-year deal.
The defender was a fans’ favourite at his previous club Salford City. However, after making just making 13 appearances during the first half of last season, the Ammies decided that he was not part of their plans.
Salford did pay tribute to Piergianni on Twitter, thanking him for his services during his time with the club.

What Was Said?
Speaking about his return to the Oldham Athletic website, Piergianni said: “It feels great, I’m delighted to be back. Obviously I had the experience of being here last season on loan and I thoroughly enjoyed my time, all be it, it was cut short.
“I always had the ambition of coming back to Boundary Park as I like to be fully committed to a club.
“I didn’t want to go back out on loan or to a different club, I wanted to come into Oldham and become a big part of the squad and pick up where I left off, with the support of the fans who have been amazing with me since I first arrived.”
The 28-year-old is the second defender to join the Latics this summer, joining Sido Jombati at Boundary Park.
