Fleetwood Town Sign Midfielder Callum Camps
Camps Arrives From League One Rivals Rochdale
Fleetwood announced via their website they had signed the creative midfielder. Camps arrives on a free transfer and has signed a two-year deal at Highbury.
Camps is Fleetwood’s first new signing since their disappointing exit from the League One play-offs. The midfielder had spent his entire career at Rochdale but leaves following the expiration of his contract.
The midfielder has been a consistent performer at League One level. At the age of 24, he has over 240 appearances under his belt for Rochdale, scoring 30 goals.
Camps also has international experience having represented Northern Ireland at U21 level. He is certainly a shrewd signing from Joey Barton as Fleetwood plot another promotion bid.
Camps Excited For New Challenge
Speaking to the Fleetwood website about his move, Camps said: “I’m just excited to get it over the line really.
“I went to the training ground. It’s not like anything I’ve seen before at this level. I couldn’t wait to get it all done before the lads get in on Monday, I’m happy to be here.
“I knew it was going to happen, I’ve had some of back and forth with a lot of clubs over the Summer, and after speaking to the manager and the coaching staff here, I thought this was the perfect fit for me to progress my career.
“The squad that Fleetwood have already is already one of the best in the league and after speaking to the gaffer, after seeing the depth of stats and details that he goes through from previous games, it made me want to come here and play at this club.”
