1.FC Berlin Sign Cedric Teuchert From FC Schalke 04
Second Signing in Two Days
Yesterday, Die Eisernen announced defender Nico Schlotterbeck on loan from SC Freiburg. The Bundesliga club have followed it up with the arrival of Teuchert from Schalke.
The 23-year-old striker spent last season on loan at Hannover in 2.Bundesliga, where he scored six goals from 24 outings.
Teuchert began his career at 1. FC Nürnberg, where he joined the academy as a 13-year-old. He netted 11 times for his boyhood club from 45 games before joining Schalke in 2018. He made 15 appearances over two seasons for Die Königsblauen but spent time away on loan at Hannover.
What Was Said
Speaking to the clubs’ official website, Teuchert said: “I’m looking forward to Union and the Bundesliga. After my first season at Schalke didn’t live up to my expectations, I want to go forward again and I’m ready for the new challenge.
“The club wants to establish itself in the Bundesliga and that is also my personal goal. I’m looking forward to learning from experienced players and bringing a breath of fresh air into the team.”
Oliver Ruhnert, Director for Professional Football at 1. FC Union Berlin, added: “In Cedric, we have gained a talented striker who isn’t just a strong dribbler but also intelligent.
“If you observe his style of play more closely, the way he chooses to finish is one that can be described as cheeky but also quite clever. He is definitely a young and talented player, who also works hard defensively.”
Five Summer Signings
Cedric Teuchert becomes Urs Fischer’s fifth summer signing. He joins defenders Nico Schlotterbeck and Niko Giesselmann, while midfielders Sebastian Griesbeck and Keita Endo have also joined.
