Salford City Confirm Ian Henderson Signing
Striker With Experience
Having started his career with Norwich City, where he won promotion the Premier League, Henderson struggled to settle after moves to Northampton Town, Luton Town and Turkish club, Ankaragücü.
But in 2010, Henderson signed for Colchester United. During his four years with the League One outfit, the striker netted 26 times from 130 outings.
In January 2013, he dropped down into League Two to join Rochdale after his Colchester contract was cancelled by mutual consent. The forward netted 15 goals in 18 months as Dale secured promotion to the third tier.
The next six seasons would all be spent in League One. The striker scored double figures in each season for the Greater Manchester club, going above 20 in three campaigns.
His 126 goals for Dale leaves him as the clubs second highest ever goalscorer.
What Was Said
Speaking to the club’s official website, the striker was sighted to join. He said: “I’m really excited, the challenge that lies ahead. I met with Graham and Gary and they put across their targets, their goals, what they want to achieve at the football club in the next two, three years and I was excited to be a part of that.”
Manager Graham Alexander added: “Ian is another fantastic addition to the squad, a vastly experienced forward with a proven goalscoring pedigree.
“He’s a player I’ve admired for a good few years now and I’m delighted that we have the opportunity to bring him to our club.”
