Mansfield Town have completed the signing of defender Rollin Menayese from Bristol Rovers. The defender becomes the Stags’ sixth summer signing and reunites with manager Graham Coughlan.
Menayese’s arrival continues Mansfield’s busy recruitment drive after a disappointing season last time out.
Mansfield Town Sign Defender Rollin Menayese
The Defender Arrives From Bristol Rovers
Mansfield announced via their website they had signed the defender. Menayese arrives from Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee, signing a two-year deal at the One Call Stadium.
Menayese becomes Mansfield’s sixth summer signing as they plot a promotion bid. He follows Jordan Bowery, Jamie Reid, Ollie Clarke, Marek Stech and Farrend Rawson in joining the Stags.
The defender also reunites with Mansfield manager Graham Coughlan. The pair worked together at Bristol Rovers. The powerful defender will certainly add pace and power to a Mansfield defence which struggled last season.
Menayese began his career at Cardiff City but was released at a young age. He made his name in non-league at Weston-super-Mare. Bristol Rovers were impressed and signed him in 2017. Loan spells at Swindon Town and Aldershot Town followed before he made the break into the Rovers team. He featured 23 teams for Rovers last season prior to the league suspension.
He will join a Mansfield side hoping to compete for promotion after a disappointing campaign. Six new signings clearly shows their ambition to put a strong side together.
Graham Coughlan Believes Menayese Will Make Them Stronger
Speaking to the Mansfield website about his new signing, Coughlan said: “Rollin is a centre half who we have worked with before.
“We feel he can make us stronger and hopefully become a big player at Mansfield.
“We have a development project on our hands with Rollin. He wants to push his career to the next level, and he can do that with us here at Mansfield.” “He’s a right-footed centre-half who is big, strong and quick. He’s a powerful, no-nonsense defender.”
