Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder Fabinho had his house broken into and burgled whilst he was at Anfield celebrating the club’s first league title success in 30 years. Following Wednesday night’s 5-3 Premier League win over Chelsea, Sky Sports have revealed thieves broke into the Brazilian’s home and left with numerous items.
Fabinho Has House Burgled During Title Celebrations
What Happened?
The break is suspected to have occurred between 3.00pm on Wednesday and 4.00am Thursday morning. Merseyside Police have confirmed items of jewellery and an Audi RS6 were stolen during the robbery to his house in Formby, with the car later recovered in Wigan.
The house and the recovered car have been forensically examined by Crime Scene Investigators. Local CCTV enquiries in the area are on-going with the police urging anybody with information to come forward.
Fabinho, who has been instrumental in the Reds’ successes this season, discovered the break-in when he returned home in the early hours of Thursday morning following lifting the Premier League trophy. The police were called to the property immediately.
A statement from the Merseyside Police has said: “Detectives in Sefton are appealing for information following a burglary in Formby. Police were called to an address in the early hours of this morning (Thursday 23 July), when the occupants entered their house to find it had been burgled.”
The midfielder’s wife this morning has taken to Twitter to say: ”For all those who are asking…we are safe.”
This isn’t the first high-profile footballer’s home to be burgled in recent times. In May, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli‘s house was broken into and he and a friend were attacked during an attempted robbery.
Also, last July, Arsenal players Saed Kolašinac and Mesut Ozil were held at knifepoint whilst attempting to get into their vehicle in London. It is believed the attackers were attempting to steal watches from the players, however, Kolasinac fought back and the muggers fled.
Liverpool will play their final match of the season on Sunday away at Newcastle United, as the champions look to end an incredible season in winning fashion.
