Lincoln City have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Ethan Ross, who has signed a one-year deal at the LNER Stadium.
Ethan Ross Joins Lincoln City
Third Signing of the Summer
Before the 23-year-old’s arrival, Lincoln did not have a goalkeeper under contract. Both Josh Vickers and Grant Smith were released at the end of last season.
As a result, it is a position where Imps boss Michael Appleton had to strengthen.
Ross began his academy career with Arsenal, before settling at West Bromwich Albion following a brief spell with Cambridge United.
However, he never made a senior appearance for the Baggies, and was eventually released by the club.
Ross then joined Colchester United in the summer of 2018. He made four appearances during his time with the Essex based club.
The goalkeeper’s arrival in Lincoln follows the confirmed signings of James Jones from Crewe Alexandra and Dutch defender Lewis Montsma.
What Was Said
Speaking to the official Lincoln City website, Ross said: “I’m over the moon, once I found there was interest from Lincoln, I was really excited to see what that beheld.
“I felt like a fresh start was something I needed and jumped at the opportunity straight away, it’s a step up in league and a new challenge which is something I really wanted. I’m looking forward to kicking on and working really hard across the season and seeing where it takes me and the team.
“I’m fully aware that I won’t be the only goalkeeper at the club and I know they’re not going to bring someone in who doesn’t want to play football. I know I’m going to have to compete and fight every day. When you work with good people you can bounce off each other and learn from each other, so I’m really excited to get going and see where it takes me.”
