Jack Harrison to Return to Leeds United on Loan Next Season
Harrison Heading Back to Elland Road
Harrison is expected to return to Leeds United next summer as they play in the top-flight for the first time in 16 years.
The Manchester City loanee has been with the Championship winners since the start of the 2018/19 season. Harrison has featured 44 times as Leeds finally earned promotion back to the Premier League.
Victor Orta, the Whites’ Director of Football, hinted at Harrison returning for another year during an interview with Radio Marca.
The Yorkshire Evening Post‘s Graham Smyth has since confirmed that the ex-New York City FC player will stay for another term.
Leeds Still Have Option to Buy Harrison
Smyth confirmed that Harrison would be returning to Elland Road next season and that the option to buy the winger will be delayed until next season.
Leeds did originally have the option to buy the 23-year-old at the end of the current campaign.
Marcelo Bielsa has clearly seen promise from the wide-midfielder; after he provided six goals and eight assists for the Whites so far this season.
Harrison Loan a Smart Move by Leeds
Delaying the decision of whether to sign Harrison on a permanent deal is a smart move from the Leeds United hierarchy.
The club, who clinched the league title after Brentford slipped up at Stoke City, now have plenty of work to do ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Leeds’ chief executive Angus Kinnear has stated that player recruitment for the new season has begun, according to Smyth.
If Harrison signs another loan deal, Leeds will be free to use their transfer funds on other signings. The winger’s contract at City expires next summer.
