Salford City have completed the permanent signing of Ash Hunter. The 24-year-old spent the second half of the 2019/20 season on loan with the Ammies from Fleetwood Town but has now joined them on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee.

Fan Favourite Returns
Hunter quickly became popular among Salford fans for his direct style when he joined them on loan. He was also in fine form before the season was brought to an early end, scoring four goals in three matches, including a brace in the 2-0 win against Bradford City.
He made 11 appearances in total for Salford, notching five times, and with a two-year deal under his belt now, he will be looking to add to those tallies next season.
Speaking to the club website, he said: “I’m buzzing to get it over the line, it’s been a while in the making but I’m glad to be back.
“It was nice to come in and get regular football again and hopefully I can pick up where I left off last season. I think we had a few good results and obviously if the season carried on we could have made the play-offs, but we go again next year and hopefully get promotion.
“As soon as the season ended I spoke to the manager about potentially coming back, he asked me what my thoughts were and I just said that I’d love to.
“I’ve worked with Graham obviously at Fleetwood before, and coming back to work for him again, he’s giving me a chance to play every week and that’s why I’m coming back.”
Hunter’s Career
Hunter was involved in many youth academies early on, including Derby County, Aston Villa, Barnsley and Burton Albion.
However, it was at non-league Ilkeston where his breakthrough came, but he spent just one season there before being picked up by Fleetwood.
In five years with the Cod Army, he made a total of 197 appearances and racked up 37 goals.
