Carlton Morris

A deal between has been struck between Norwich City and MK Dons for Carlton Morris to spend next season on loan with the League One club, according to The Athletic’s Norwich correspondent Michael Bailey. Morris spent the second half of the 2019/20 season in Milton Keynes, helping them to survival, and the fan-favourite is now set to return for a full campaign.

Russell Martin Influence

Former Norwich defender Russell Martin is the man currently in charge of the Dons, having taken over from Paul Tisdale towards the end of last year.

There’s little doubt that it was the Martin influence that saw Morris join the club on loan and help them survive in the third tier, and in an interview with The Athletic, Morris even said that when Martin got the job, “it was hard not to have half an eye on it”.

Martin’s presence at the Dons was surely a factor once more and, having scored two important goals in the closing stages of last season, his return is bound to be welcome.

What Morris Brings

Even with Rhys Healey scoring left, right and centre last season, Morris’ contribution in the second half of the season did not go unnoticed, despite his strike partner remaining the ‘main man’.

Morris struck a late equaliser away at eventual champions Coventry City on his debut and then scored the equaliser in a 2-1 win against Rochdale, who were battling alongside the Dons to avoid the drop down to League Two.

It would be right to not expect bags of goals from the frontman, but his tireless work up front will help to create chances for Healey. It will also give them competition in the forward ranks, with youngster Sam Nombe certain to try and stake a claim for a starting position.
