Inter Milan and Juventus have shortlisted Mauricio Pochettino as a potential replacement should either club sack their manager this summer.
REPORT: Mauricio Pochettino Linked With Inter Milan and Juventus Jobs
Pochettino Shortlisted by Italian Sides
Pochettino is without a job since being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in November. The Argentine is now on the shortlist of both Italian clubs.
According to The Telegraph, the ex-Spurs boss has been lined up to take over should either Antonio Conte or Maurizio Sarri be shown the door.
Sarri, despite currently on course to secure the Serie A title with Juve, appears to not have the full support of the Turin club. If the Old Lady fail to overturn their 1-0 first-leg defeat by Lyon in the Champions League, he may be sent packing this summer.
Meanwhile, Conte’s Inter have fallen back in the race for the Italian league title, and an early exit from Europe didn’t help the Italian’s cause either.
Pochettino is reportedly still keen to find another job in the Premier League. But, with no immediate vacancies expected, the 48-year-old may be tempted to head to Italy.
Inter Milan and Juventus Keen on Pochettino
Pochettino left Spurs earlier this season after a woeful start to the 2019/20 campaign. The North London side won just five games before the hierarchy called time on his five-year tenure.
Before his rapid demise, the ex-Southampton boss had taken Spurs to the next level; guiding them to last season’s Champions League final and their highest Premier League finish – second place in 2017.
His reign at Tottenham was even more remarkable because of the limited budget he had at his disposal. During his time at the club, he had a net spend per season of just £19.83 million.
Should he land a new job before the season is out, Spurs will require some compensation, however, he can move for nothing this summer.
