Players Manchester United Might Sell

Manchester United are willing to sell a group of unwanted first-team players this summer as they look to boost their transfer funds.

Manchester United Ready to Sell Six Players

United Open to Offers

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to sell a number of fringe players in order to increase the club’s spending power.

According to The Telegraph‘s James Ducker, the Red Devils are happy to sell six players if the offers are right.

Alexis Sanchez, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Jesse Lingard and Diogo Dalot are all being shown the door at Old Trafford.

If Solskjaer wants to have another summer of spending then some players will have to make way first.

The Norwegian boss has splashed the cash in his tenure so far; a big transfer budget saw Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James and Bruno Fernandes arrive.

Yet with the financial implications of Covid-19, United may have to work within their means this transfer window.

United Keen to Get Sanchez off the Wage Bill

The departure of Alexis Sanchez, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan, is one United’s key tasks this summer.

Sanchez has a salary of £400,000 a week and the former English champions are desperate to get him off the wage bill. United currently pay £175,000 of his weekly salary.

The Chilean forward, now 31-years-old, has found form at the San Siro recently, which should help attract prospective buyers.

Fellow Serie A club AS Roma are keen to extend the loan spell of United defender Chris Smalling. The 30-year-old hit the ground running in Rome but the two clubs appear at odds over his future.

Roma want another loan deal but United prefer something more permanent. It is believed the clubs are discussing a £21 million deal that the Italian side take up after another season-long loan.

United Willing to Sell Lingard and Jones

Both Lingard and Jones are out of favour at Old Trafford and tipped to be leaving this summer.

Neither have played since the restart, with Jones only making two appearances all season due to a knee injury. Lingard was last seen in a United shirt in a 0-0 draw against Wolves back in February.

It’s expected that Lingard could attract a decent fee, with interest from both the Premier League and countries further afield.

Rojo left for a loan spell with Argentinian side Estudiantes in January and isn’t expected to play at the Theatre of Dreams again.

Meanwhile, Dalot, signed by Jose Mourinho in 2018, has fallen out of favour under Solskjaer. The United boss has preferred Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams as his full-back options this campaign. The ex-Porto defender is expected to leave this summer.
