In a historic, never seen before move, Liverpool will be presented with the Premier League trophy on top of a podium built amongst the famous Kop stand.
Following the champions’ next home game against Chelsea on Wednesday 22 July, Liverpool’s staff and players will make their way into the seating area of The Kop, where they will celebrate the club’s first title success for 30 years, following a campaign in which they dominated throughout.
Liverpool to Lift Premier League on the Kop
Fans at the Heart of the Thinking
The historic occasion has been designed with absent supporters in mind, a method of showing fans watching on at home that they haven’t been forgotten throughout the Reds’ momentous triumph.
The specially built podium in The Kop will be at the heart of where some of the most dedicated and impassioned fans would in normal circumstances sit. Jordan Henderson, despite his current injury, will receive, possibly do his trademark quick feet shuffle and raise aloft the long-awaited Premier League title.
Lifting the Premier League title behind-close-doors will be a surreal experience for the Reds captain. While it will certainly be unique, and hopefully a one-off, they will be desperate to get their hands on the trophy.
In addition, the club has confirmed that Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish, the last manager to win the title before Jurgen Klopp, will also be in attendance as the current squad and staff receive their richly deserved medals.
As is the case for all Premier League matches now, strict health and safety protocols will be observed throughout the unique trophy ceremony at all times.
The club have also expressed their desire for fans to enjoy the match and the presentation at home. As well as being available to watch on Sky Sports, it will also be available on freeview channels.
