REPORT: Sevilla Defender Simon Kjaer to Seal Permanent Move to AC Milan

Sevilla are set to let Simon Kjaer join AC Milan on a permanent basis this summer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The defender has spent the second half of the current campaign on loan at the Rossoneri, having spent the first part with Serie A rivals, Atalanta.

REPORT: Sevilla Defender Simon Kjaer to Seal Permanent Move to AC Milan

AC Milan Loan

In the 13 games that the 31-year old has featured in since his move back in January, he has impressed with a series of solid displays at the heart of Milan’s defence. So much so, that the Italian side have decided to turn his temporary spell at the club into a permanent one.

The deal is worth around 3.5m Euros (around £3.2m) and, once confirmed, it will bring an end to his three-year stay in Spain with Sevilla.

Kjaer Across Europe

After joining the La Liga club in 2017, he featured in a total of 64 games for the club. However, with playing time not promised at the club, he decided to look elsewhere and ended up on loan at Atalanta, where he played six times up until the January transfer window.

Kjaer has plenty of European experience in his locker. He’s played in Turkey, (for Fenerbache, the club he has made the most appearances for) France, Germany and in his native Denmark, as well as Spain and Italy of course. Milan will be his seventh permanent club.

International Experience

He is also held in high esteem by his Danish peers and for his national side, where he remains the captain for his country. He has featured in nearly 100 games for his national side and, in his breakout year for the international side back in 2009, he was awarded the Danish Player of the Year Award.

AC Milan had until tomorrow to decide on whether or not to keep Kjaer in the Serie A on a permanent basis and they have decided that the defender did enough in his performances to warrant spending the money to bring him in on a full-time basis.
