Brentford have already looked into potential replacements for star player Saïd Benrahma, should the winger leave this summer.

Portsmouth Winger Linked With the Bees

The Algerian international has been linked with a move away from the West London club at the end of this season, providing the Bees don’t win promotion.

Thomas Frank’s side view Portsmouth‘s Ronan Curtis as a potential replacement for Benrahma.

According to The Portsmouth News, the Pompey man is one of a number of players on Brentford’s shortlist.

Brentford Need Promotion for Benrahma to Stay

Benrahma has been linked with both Aston Villa and Chelsea in recent months and the forward’s form has only increased rumours that he will be snapped up this summer.

The 24-year-old has 17 goals in 40 games this season, helping the West London club challenge for promotion from the Championship.

Brentford currently sit third in the league with just three matches left in the regular season.

The winger, who scored a brace against Derby County last weekend, has played 85 times for the Bees over the last two seasons.

Signing for Brentford for just £1.5 million from OGC Nice, he is a fine example of the club’s great recruitment record.

Curtis on Brentford’s Shortlist

Portsmouth’s Ronan Curtis is one of the players who Brentford believe could fill Benrahma’s shoes should he leave. The Republic of Ireland international is the same age as Benrahma and plays on the left-wing too.

Curtis has a prolific record with the South coast side since joining from Derry City in 2018. Over two seasons and 93 appearances, he has scored 26 goals and created a further 21.

However, following transfer interest in January, the Irishman signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal at Pompey.

But with Portsmouth consigned to another year in League One, Brentford may be too good to turn down.
