Defender Lewis Montsma has signed for Lincoln City on a three and a half year deal. The 22-year-old centre-back joins the Imps after being released by Dutch second division side FC Dordrecht.

Montsma “Can’t Wait” to start
Montsma made 25 appearances for Eerste Divisie team FC Dordecht last season.
At 6ft 3, the Dutch centre-back impressed with his physicality and distribution skills in the Dutch second division last season. He made 24 appearances for Dordecht in the 2019/20 season in all competitions.
The 22-year-old began his career at AFC Amsterdam but joined Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen as a teenager for one season, featuring for the club’s youth teams at under 17 and 19 level.
Montsma then joined SC Cambuur under 21s before transferring to FC Dordrecht in 2018.
The towering defender made 48 appearances overall across two seasons for Schapenkoppen before his contract expired in June.

Appleton “Thrilled” with Signing
Imps boss Michael Appleton was pleased to land the ball-playing centre back. He spoke highly of Montsma’s footballing ability.
Also speaking to Lincoln City’s official website, Appleton said: “Lewis is a very versatile defender who can play either side at centre half. He is a physical specimen and I’m thrilled to have signed him. He uses the ball really well and is comfortable with both feet in possession whilst being very aggressive out of possession. I’m sure he’ll be a real asset to this club”.
