Keith Curle Pleased With Hoskins’ Contract
The news has delighted manager Keith Curle, who looks to prepare for life in League One.
He told the club website: “Sam has that hunger and that desire to keep improving and to keep getting better, and I think Sam’s game is continuing to develop.
“He also has a fantastic attitude and work ethic and you can’t have too many characters like that in your dressing room.
“From a manager’s point of view, he has that versatility that allows him to adapt and play a number of different roles and that is important during a season.”
Hoskins Delighted to Remain at Sixfields
Hoskins himself added: “There’s been high points and low points during my time here, but the club are going in the right direction”
“You’ve seen the work the gaffer and the coaching staff since they’ve come in. That was a big plus for me to sign and to be on board again.”
“We’ve got the quality and the set up and hopefully we can push on.”
Hoskins’ Career Statistics
It’s been quite a journey for Sam Hoskins. He began his career at Southampton, where he only made four appearances, all coming in the domestic cup competitions.
He had brief stints at Preston North End, Rotherham United and Stevenage, before signing for Championship new boys Yeovil Town, who would go on to get relegated that season.
But he was released in 2015 later as the Glovers suffered back-to-back relegations. He was spotted by then-Cobblers manager Chris Wilder, who signed him after a successful trial with the club.
He’s been at the club ever since and has enjoyed a successful period with them. He has scored on 32 occasions and won the League Two title as a player in 2016.
Hoskins was also instrumental at Sixfields this season. He was his side’s top goalscorer with 11 goals and provided six assists as they won the League Two Play-Offs.
The ex-Saints man will now venture with Northampton back into League One.
