Winger Excited to Get Going
Burton will be looking to improve on their mid-table finish in League One this season when they go again in 2020/21. Lawless is certainly a signing to bring an extra edge to their attack and, when speaking to the club website, he expressed his delight at the move.
He said: “I had a good season last season at Livingston and after I spoke to the gaffer, I straight away knew I had my heart set on joining Burton Albion.
“I’ve played all my career up in Scotland and after I came with my wife to look at the facilities, I couldn’t turn down this new challenge.
“The manager was very honest and didn’t want to hide anything from me, which was a really big factor in me joining. He seems like a great guy and I am really looking forward to working with him.”
Career So Far
Lawless has, so far, spent all of his career in Scotland. The Glasgow-born winger started out at Motherwell in 2009 but left in 2012 having not made a first-team league appearance. He did, though, have loan spells at Annan Athletic and Albion Rovers to get his first taste of professional football.
His next move took him to Partick Thistle on a permanent deal and it is there where he spent the bulk of his career. He made a total of 228 appearances in all competitions for them (the first season being in the Scottish First Division before they were promoted to the Premiership).
His two seasons at Livingston produced 75 outings in all competitions. He also contributed 14 goals.
