REPORT: Kai Havertz Will Ask to Leave Bayer Leverkusen With Chelsea in Pole Position to Secure His Signature

Kai Havertz

Kai Havertz will ask to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer as Chelsea seem favourites to secure his signature, according to Christian Falk. The youngster can leave the club, according to Rudi Voller, Bayer’s sporting director.

“As of now, he is our player,” Voller told Bild. “We have our ideas; we know what he can do. I personally hope that he stays one more year.”

“We have an agreement: if it works, he can go this summer.”

Chelsea Over Other Clubs

Chelsea are not the only club interested in Kai Havertz – both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich want to sign the youngster. But, they are hamstrung financially and would prefer to move for the player in 2021.

Madrid have already spent big on renovations to the Santiago Bernabeu while Bayern have put a lot of money into the Leroy Sane transfer. The Germans would only be able to afford Havertz if they sell a player and receive a significant transfer fee.

All this leaves Chelsea in pole position. They can afford the youngster this summer, and Havertz wants to test himself at a higher level.

Despite his talent, Bayer Leverkusen did not qualify for next year’s Champions League.

But, if Chelsea are serious about this move, then they have to secure Havertz now. Bayern will not hesitate to hijack any transfer if the German is still available in 2021.

Kai Havertz and Chelsea Could Dominate the Premier League

Havertz could help take Chelsea to the next level. The German has scored 12 goals and laid on six assists this season at the tender age of 21.

His arrival, along with that of striker Timo Werner, means that Chelsea would have one of the most lethal attacks in the league, not to mention that the Blues already have American wonder kid Christian Pulisic. This front three would strike fear into any defence.

This signing also speaks of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s ambitions. After a transfer ban last summer, he means business.

Havertz would also solidify an attack that has scored a whopping 63 goals this season – it seems that Chelsea will want to blow away teams next season.
