Match Preview: Swansea City v Sheffield Wednesday

Graeme Cooper’s side starts the weekend in eighth place, just four points behind Cardiff City.

Rhian Brewster’s deflected free-kick rescued Swansea a point at Millwall in midweek. But it means that the Swans have only won twice in their last 11 league matches.

With the Swans still to face the likes of Leeds United and Nottingham Forest after their game this afternoon, they cannot afford to drop any more points if they are to reach the play-offs.

Andre Ayew has been Swansea’s main man this season. The Ghanaian has scored 15 times this term, and also has six assists.

Owls Look to Make Amends for Midweek Defeat

The Owls were beaten 3-0 at home to West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday.

They had plenty of chances, but it proved to be a comfortable evening for Albion’s keeper Sam Johnstone.

Sheffield Wednesday have been on a dismal run since January and the top-six looks all but out of Garry Monk‘s sides reach, with them being in 13th position, nine points off Cardiff City.

The mood at Hillsborough hasn’t been helped by the ongoing case into whether the South Yorkshire side will be docked points for financial misconduct.

Team News

Swansea City’s only absentee will be Jordan Garrick. The youngster picked up a red card in the 1-0 defeat to Luton Town last week.

The Swans recently said farewell to Jefferson Montero, who departs the club after his contract ran out on June 30.

It’s positive news for Sheffield Wednesday; they have no injuries for their trip to South Wales.

They have also been boosted by the fact Connor Wickham, Jacob Murphy, Alessio Da Cruz and Josh Windass have extended their loans until the end of the season.
