Young striker Danny Loader is one of three first-team players to have left Reading at the end of their contract. Adrian Popa and former Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone have also departed the Royals following the expiration of their deals.
Danny Loader Among Three to Leave Reading
Youngster’s Contract is Up
An exciting prospect, Loader has been at Reading since moving from Wycombe Wanderers’ youth set-up in 2012. He spent five years in the Royals’ academy before making his first-team debut in 2017.
He featured 21 times for Reading last season in the Championship, scoring once, while this year he had played just seven times in the league.
The 19-year-old has also represented England at five different youth levels, appearing most for the U17s and scoring six times in 14 games.
Popa and Mannone Also Depart
Winger Popa joined Reading from Romanian outfit FCSB in 2017 but spent much of his time out on loan. He only made 15 league appearances during his time in England while having spells at Al-Taawoun, Ludogrets Razgrad and back at FCSB.
Italian goalkeeper Mannone, formerly of Arsenal and Sunderland, also joined the Royals in 2017 following the Black Cats’ relegation from the Premier League. He was the first-choice stopper in his first season but fell out of favour in 2018/19.
He has since spent time on loan in the USA with Minnesota United and Denmark with Esbjerg fB.
Five Loanees Stay On
The club have also confirmed that all five of their loan players will be seeing out the season with them.
Matt Miazga and Ovie Ejaria are on loan from Premier League clubs Chelsea and Liverpool respectively.
Winger Lucas Boye is on loan from Serie A side Torino, Pele is with Ligue 1 outfit Monaco, and Ayub Masika is loaned in from Chinese club Beijing Renhe.
