Coventry City have confirmed that they have signed midfielder Gustavo Hamer, who has signed a three-year deal with the Sky Blues.
Coventry City Confirm the Arrival of Gustavo Hamer
Subject to International Clearance
The signing is still to be approved by the FA and EFL. Furthermore, it is also subject to international clearance due to the fact that he has not represented his country.
Hamer, 23, arrives in Midlands with plenty of optimism surrounding his signature. Originally born in Brazil, he then moved to Holland to begin his football career.
The 23-year-old joined the Feyenoord academy, where he continued to develop his skills. He broke through the ranks at Feyenoord and made his first-team debut in 2017 against Ajax.
However, his time did not last long with the Rotterdam based club, and following a loan move to Dutch football’s second division, he eventually joined PEC Zwolle in 2018.
While it took him to time to adapt to his new club, Hamer eventually enjoyed an excellent second season. He scored four goals and registered six assists last season, as Zwolle finished 15th in the Eredivisie.
As a result of his arrival, he become the Sky Blues’ first signing of the summer, following their promotion to the Championship last season after winning League One via points-per-game.
What Was Said
Speaking to the official Coventry City website, manager Mark Robins said: “We’re delighted to announce the signing of Gustavo, who is a quality addition to our squad ahead of our return to the Championship and is a player our recruitment team has been monitoring closely for some time.
“He’s a creative, two-footed midfielder with great technical ability but is also a tenacious and determined player as well in the centre of the midfield.
“We are looking forward to working with Gustavo and continuing our work ahead of next season.”
