David Amoo Extends Port Vale Contract
Amoo’s Career
After spending time in the academy at Millwall, Amoo was snapped up by Liverpool in 2007 and continued his development there. Although he was eventually given a squad number at the club, he only made one appearance for the first team – against North Macedonian side FK Rabotnicki in the third qualifying round of the Europa League. An appearance on the bench, unused, against Northampton Town in the League Cup was his only other taste of first-team football at the Reds.
While with Liverpool, he spent time out on loan at MK Dons, Hull City and Bury before sealing a permanent move to Preston North End in 2012. He then moved on to Tranmere Rovers a year later and eventually settled at Carlisle United, where he scored 13 goals in 63 games across a two-year spell.
He then moved north of the border, playing for two years at Scottish side Partick Thistle, before heading to Cambridge United in 2017.
He finally landed a Port Vale last season and contributed four goals to their charge for the play-off places, which resulted in them finishing just one spot away in eighth position.
What Was Said?
Speaking to the club website about the extension, chief executive Colin Garlick said: “David has become a key member of John Askey’s squad and a favourite with the fans, with a great sound you get from the supporters when David scores a goal.
“He has scored some very important goals in his first season with us and has also had some key assists as well as playing an important role in the success of the club off the field.”
